I have hunted ducks in central Texas for a long time, this season I have my boat in east Tx and was wanting to try tawakoni or other east Tx lakes. Not wanting to steal someone's honey hole, but would greatly appreciate any advice offered by forum members. Looks like my schedule willgive time for 2 or 3 trips only.

Not sure this is where you'll get your best advice but good luck.

T-Wok is pretty low might have to travel a bit from the ramp to your spot. It is Type-2 so a permit is needed, you also can only hunt till noon. Pockets down by the dam tend to hold birds also look in the creeks north of 276. Lots of mallards can be had if set up in the right spot.

Easy guys not looking for gps coordinates or secret tips from a hunting guide...just the kind of general info on good boat ramps to use and general areas that are allowed to hunt. I wish I had time to scout in my boat prior to planning a trip for me plus one or two others but the holiday season has my schedule full. I was not aware of the need for a special liscence as I have only hunted private land. Thanks for the heads up

I get your not wanting specific spots. But realize that any tip given puts you that much closer to finding what someone else has worked for. Why would I work to scout for ducks then give you any clue as to where to find them and shorten your scouting time. The objective to scouting and doing your homework is hopefully finding a clue that someone else hasn't.

jt. you wont even get that. unwritten rule: no one talks on this board about anything related to public water. you gotta get out and scout yourself. i asked the same well meaning questions about public and got a beat down. dont take it personal. is what it is. make friends and or scout.
p.s. whatever you do, if someone takes you out, never go back to that hole ever in your life. otherwise all kinds of crazy s*** goes down like dogs run over, "ryan" screaming cuss words, homey getting grumpy, and general all around mayhem.

Lol that story keeps getting better now the dog actually got run over. What's next let me guess they were actually on their hole and were forced at gunpoint to leave.
Aim small, miss small.

jt, also try googling "duck hunting at lake tawokoni". Tpwd website breaks down where you can hunt and rules for this lake...google is good! also, try google earth and zoom in and you can see many good areas as well. hope this helps

You can probably drive under the bridge since the water is low...

I sense there is some inside joke going on with a dog gettin ran over or whatever...lol tough crowd. Anyways several have been helpful and pm'd me. My main concern is not being able to launch at boat ramps with the water so low. That's why I have had to move the boat up here to east Tx. Central Tx lakes i frequent are just about mudholes now.
