bow hunting or rifle hunting? which do you prefer? Bow hunting is more of challenge and also more of a success if you get a kill.rifle hunting could be better because you can kill an animal farther away and that could just be as hard as bow hunting. which do you like better?

I have strictly bow hunted for the last 5 years and love it. There are times when I wish I would have had a rifle with me though.

Well, I bought a rifle last week so I could sit up and watch this one area on the lease that has some long distance. I have two feeders set up, one 166 yards south of me, and the other, small hanging feeder, about 100 yards north of me.
I've been bow hunting forever though....

Either one, my recurve or one of my rifles, and include blackpowder, either inline with a 209 or a percussion cap.

I prefer a bow, but will occasionally take out the rifle and sit back to see more country. Most my bow blinds only afford me limited visibilty and sometimes I just want to see lots of land Also like to use the rifle for stalking.

Don't get me wrong, I love the challenge of bow hunting, but I'll take every advantage I can get, and once rifle season starts, you won't see me with a bow in my hands. Bows are great and greatly rewarding, but hella frustrating at the same time. I like my bow, but I love my boom-sticks.

Brother, Dad, Son and Daughter-in-law all use bows almost exclusively. When they connect, there is a lot of satisfaction - when they don't, lots of frustration. The frustration usually melts away quickly due to enjoying the outdoors.
I mostly "hunt" for varmint/feral/pest control and use a gun. Usually an SKS or AR on pigs so I can have a follow up shot if needed. Usually an AR or Rem 700 on Yotes and other varmints. Usually a 10-22 on skunks, coons and possums. I think a lot of the "use gun" mentality goes back to hunting and trapping with Dad in early years - if you didn't connect, you went hungry.

Both, I change up throughout the season based on which stands the wind lets me hunt -- if I can use the bow and not get winded I do, if not, I will sit in one of the "rifle" stands....I do have two spots where I take both and will use whichever one I am able to based on where the deer come out.

Bow only. I passed on a monster 8 last saturday, because I had my AR in the blind with me instead of my bow. I was considering taking a doe for meat with my AR, and the deer were staying 100 yards away from the feeder, under some oaks that were still dropping a few acorns. I've been hunting this deer for years, and was shocked to see that he was still around. When he came in, he was only about 70 yards away. Looked him over through the scope, could have put him down without any difficulty at all. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. He was an old buck and I decided if I get another opportunity to take him, it will be with my bow only. I want it to be a challenge.
Saw the most bucks at one time I had ever seen that day. All because of one of those primos "Great big can" estrus calls. I always thought they were a joke, but I learned now that it is all about timing. I hadn't been seeing any deer for about 2 hours, except the few does under the oak trees. After flipping that can over a few times, I had 7 different bucks all within 100 yards.

I prefer to bow hunt, but I also enjoy sitting in a box blind.
I can move around, drink beer, put in a dip, and watch acres of land from one spot. Can't do that bow hunting.

Archery is my preferred method but I still occasionally like to take the rifle out and increase my odds for a harvest.

Both but bow hunting is definitely more challenging and more of an adrenaline rush by far. I've brought both with me since rifle season opened and decided once I got out there, I've only been in the woods with a rifle twice this year.

I use bow, rifle, shotgun slug, smoke pole, and wanting to get something with my pistol soon. I get a thrill out of hunting with all of them.
