I just turned 18 and got a super blackhawk hunter from my parents and was wondering if I am able to take a handgun to a gun range without a parent? I also would like to know if I can buy handgun ammo?

if your in texas no. you have to have a parent with you and someone 21 or older has to get you the ammo.

On buying the ammo....No you cant buy it untill you are 21.
Range rules will vary from place to place.
I know you have to be 21 to purchase (and "purchase" is the key word here) a handgun but possesion is probably OK. I would get a clarification from a LEO before you try traveling with a handgun though.

Yes, and the same could be said for the 38 Special, 357 Mag, 45 Colt, 40 S&W, and several other handgun calibers as well but me and you both know that a Ruger Super Blackhawk is a handgun.
