Do you have to hand load to get more energy out of a .45-70? Most of the factory loads I have looked at are a little light. I am looking at a double rifle, but I do not hand load.

Check out Buffalo Bore ammo. They use to make some really hot 45-70 loads and I bet they still do. Only use them in the guns they list on the box though becasue not all 45-70 guns can safely handle them.

If you do not reload then like JCB said Buffalo Bore. Another option is to get some from a custom reloader. One from the Dallas area that posts in the reloadind section is ChadTRG42

You csn check with him for other options.

Thanks for the replies. This will help in making up my mind about the rifle.
