i am thinking about buying a new bow then taking it to the archery shop to have it fit to me. this may sound like a dumb question but can they change the pull length?

Most bows do have some room for adjustment in draw length. Might be a good idea to get measured for your draw length before buying a bow though...to be sure the bow will adjust to your needed length.

If you are buying a Mathews (or Hoyt I think) then they are draw specific bows. Meaning you would have to change the cams and strings to change draw length. I would get fitted first.

Go to a pro shop first.

I am in the process of buying a bow myself and these guys have it right on the money. Get measured first, it's your best bet. Most archery shops can measure you for free and it doesn't take long at all.

Since your buying a new bow, why not just buy it from the archery shop? Most shops will not charge you for making the necessary adjustments to your bow if you buy the bow from them.

I may be missing something here, but what your suggesting only makes sense to me if your talking about buying a USED bow from someone.

you can get within 1/2 inch with this method:

Stand against a wall and stretch your arms all the way out. Have somebody measure from fingertip to fingertip your wingspan. Subtract 15" from this number then divide by 2.

Example; wingspan 71" 71"-15"=56" 56"/2=28"

I tried this and I came up with 26 1/2 and my DL is 25"

Or take the wing spand and divide by 2.5

When I did mine that way it came out 28.5" and I shot 29"
