Just recently bought this gun for varmint hunting, and I'm shooting 55 grain winchester silver tips out of it and it's pushing about 4000 fps at the muzzle. It's hell on yotes, but I'm gonna start deer hunting with it. What rounds would y'all recommend to shoot out of it for Central Texas white tail?

There are several threads this year for bullet choices in a 243.
Pretty much anything for a 243 bullets in 90gr and above should wwork for deer. Personally in the smaller caliber rounds in particular I like the premium bullets like Accubonds, Siroccos, or partitions any of which will work very well. Barnes bullets are another option that many like.
TThere other threads this year about bullet choices for the 243, nmight be in the reloading section.

Winchester 100gr powerpoints. Cheap (relative) and they work.

I understand what loads work on deer from your traditional .243, but this is a VTR (Varmint Tactical Rifle) and I have been told to not shoot any loads over 90 grain. That is the reason for my question

I believe the twists in the barrels are the same (this is the only reason I can think of why it wouldn't be smart to shoot higher grain bullets). The Remington website says that the VTR in .243 has a 9 1/8" twist, and I checked the SPS (just for reference) and it also has a 9 1/8" twist. Take this with a grain of salt, because I'm by no means an expert

X2 this is the best round you will find off the shelf for that .243...not cheap but it will make even some of the biggest hogs take a dirt nap....and im not talkin about head shots either

I produced some hand loads for a friend's .243 with a 1:9" twist and used 100 gr. bullets. It banged 1 MOA steel from 200 to 700 yards with those 100 gr. bullets.

Also, I have been having some bad experiences with Winchester lately; extra hot white box loads in .308 that make my bolt stick; and it shoots real dirty in my handguns.
I don't buy it anymore.

I don't buy it anymore. Time to contact Winchester for return, a fellow lease member had trouble like that with some Federal ammo last year. he contacted them and they sent shipping lable for the remaining rounds then sent him twice as much ammo in return. Consumers reporting issues is where ammo recalls often are started from.
