This is a view of Lake Ivie as of last week. This is from the west end of the lake looking east. The concho/colorado confluence is in the foreground. Not much of a lake anymore.

Wow. I've only fished it once, had a great day. Hope it recovers.

My wife must be a cross between a Indian and a bulldog. When she's not on the warpath, she's sitting on her butt growling.

We're burnin daylite.

Imagine 39 foot of water on top of what you see. If you look at the roads on the right side of the picture, the water is supposed to be at those roads. All the land you see in the middle of the pictures is supposed to be under water. I guide there and it's getting scary!!!

Ivie is preditcted to be dry by the end of 2012.
As it stands right now, Texas only has 5 years of water left.

Its actually easier to predict long term future weather patterns in all honesty. Out rainfall is determined by the tempetature of the atlantic and pacific oceans. With a cool pacific, the jet stream drops well below Texas and allows high pressure to dominate....ergo less rainfall. Long term models show the pacific continuing to be cool, therefore it would be a pretty safe bet that drough conditions will continue.

THey many not be able to predict when and where it will rain, but they can accurately predict that it will happen less/or more frequently over a period of time.

I'm sorry, but it's a little hard to believe there is only 5 years of water left in the whole state of Texas. East Texas has one of the biggest underground water tables in the nation.

Who has the rights to that water?

Surface water I assume. The state is ramping up bigtime in trying to find ways to obtain access to private water. May have to claim eminent domain.

Ah! That makes sense. Wasn't meant to argue, just found it a little odd.

There was an interesting piece on NPR the other day. They predict that we will be importing our food from China in 40 years becuase we will have to Dam the Mississippi river to sustain adequate water for the US. This will flood much of the Midwest, which will take out a lager majority of the farm land.

Overpopulation and prolonged droughts will take a toll on a nation.

How about we close our borders to illegal immigration? That might take care of the overpopulation part of the equation. Oh and send the illegals that are here, back to where they came from. They drain all of our resources, not just water.

Well, We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

Not saying I believe that at all, just an interesting piece. I would think that in 40 years they would have found a more economical way to desalinize water.
