If I kill at 13+ and a spike in one AR county (Hopkins) can I kill another 13+ and a spike in another AR county (Cass)? I think I only have 3 buck tags.

Yep I have killed 2 bucks and only have one more WT buck tag left. Sooo I can use my last tag on a 13+ or one unbranched in an AR county that I havent already killed a buck in.
Got it! Thanks.
It ain't easy being me.

Yes you can, Each county has it's own limit, just like you could go to a county without AR and kill a buck or doe there. Just don't shoot more then the state limit each year.
Sorry 10pointdoe your wrong on this one

I think I only have 3 buck tags.
The issue is the and . You can shot a 13 inch or an unbranched in the second county, but not one of each since that would put you over your three buck state wide limit.

One more time.
Unless you are hunting MLD properties, the state wide limit on white tail deer in Texas, is 5.
On your hunting license, there are 5 tags.
2 Antlerless Only, and 3 Buck or Antlerless.
Each county has its own limits.
As long as a person DOES NOT exceed the limit in ANY county, nor do they exceed the state wide limit of 5, TP&W really does not care how you kill your 5 deer.
In some counties, it is stated, "5 deer limit, all seasons combined, NO MORE THAN 3 BUCKLS".
That means that if a person wants to, they can kill 3 bucks and 2 does, or, if they want to, they can kill 5 does, it does not say they have to kill a buck.
In some counties ir says, limit 3 deer, 1 buck and 2 antlerless, ONLY. That means in that county you can only kill 1 buck and 2 does, you can not kill 3 does.
You can legally kill 3 13" bucks, as long is each one is killed in a different county.
You can kill 3 unbranched antlered bucks as long as each one of them is killed in a different county.
Or you can kill 1 buck out of 3 different 2 buck counties to get your 3 bucks.
You can kill 1 buck out of 3 different 3 buck counties to get your 3 bucks.
Some of you guys are making some fairly simple straightforward rules way to complicated for no reason.
Get one of the 2007-2008 Outdoor Annuals and look up the limit for the county/counties you are going to be hunting in and as long as you do not exceed the limit in any of those counties, and do not exceed the statewide limit, you will be okay.

Wait a minute! You can kill only 5 if you hunt archery-only and ML? I thought that allowed you more.

Never knew that. (I only hunt gun season.) I always thought guys hunted those other seasons so they could take more deer. I guess it's just about having more time to get them.

Wait...this statement is incorrect. If you are in an AR county, you can take 2 bucks with an unbranched antler on one side. You just cannot take more than one 13" or greater inside spread buck in that county.
You then could go to another AR county and take either a 13" inside spread or greater buck or an unbranched antlered buck and they do not have to be from 3 different counties just as long as you do not exceed the bag limit for any particular county.

Chris, re-read what I wrote.
You can kill 3 unbranched antlered bucks as long as each one is from a different county. You can kill 3 13 inch or greater bucks as long as each one is from a different county.
The operative word in my statement is CAN.
Now if you can show me where that statement is wrong, Please Do So.

So can you take 2 spikes from the same county, or not? My impression was that you can't.

While mine and Kyotee1's answers got convoluted among themselves.
This is from the TP&W website and can be found on page 65 of the Outdoor Annual.
SPECIAL ANTLER RESTRICTIONS: In Austin, Bastrop, Bell, Bosque, Bowie, Brazoria, Burleson, Caldwell, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Colorado, Comal(E. of I-35), Comanche, Coryell, Delta, DeWitt, Eastland, Erath, Fannin, Fayette, Fort Bend, Franklin, Goliad, Gonzales, Gregg, Guadalupe, Hamilton, Harrison, Hays(E. of I-35), Hopkins, Houston, Jackson, Karnes, Lamar, Lampasas, Lavaca, Lee, Leon, Marion, Matagorda, Morris, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rains, Red River, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Somervell, Titus, Travis(E. of I-35), Upshur, Victoria, Waller, Washington, Wharton, Williamson, Wilson, and Wood counties, there are special regulations for buck deer.
In these counties, the bag limit is two legal bucks, but only ONE may have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater.
A legal buck deer is defined as having: a hardened antler protruding through the skin AND; at least one unbranched antler; OR an inside spread measurement between main beams of 13 inches or greater.
The confusion came in when I said that a person can go to 3 different counties, AR or not, and shoot 1 unbranch antlered buck in each of those counties, and Kyotee1 pointed out that Legally a person hunting in the AR counties can kill 2 unbranched antlered bucks.
I guess a less confusing way of stating it, is that a person hunting in an AR county can shoot two bucks that have an unbranched antler on one side, but can only shoot one branch antlered buck that has the 13 inch or greater inside spread.
So yes, under the AR's, you can take two spikes from the same county, but you can't take two 13+ bucks from the same county.

Thanks. That settles that. Of course, in all my years of hunting I've yet to see a spike.
