We hunted all the way up until 11:45 because we would have 4 groups of pintails circling at a time, one just above the water, another above it, another above it...

Finally we gave up. That last deal, on the 23rd pass I thought they were lookin hard when they dropped altitude fast. On the 43rd pass I thought they were gonna do it, feet were down everywhere. On the 57th pass we said we'd tried enough different hides and moved things around enough and we'd been up 8 hours and needed a real meal.

Bag ended up being 2 pin drakes, 2 spoonie hens and a drake GWT but I see those pintails circling whenever I close my eyes.

(I never took a shot of the pintails, the bird shot is specks.)

The really bad thing is our retrievers lost half the marks they were sent on. Need to get better "fetchers"! Next year should be a better year for the not losing birds!

Those pins had been shot at and called at in this county for the last two weeks, and they were VERY educated as to WHAT they should avoid. They never had the OH POOP lets get out of here flare, but they would not finish the last 10 yards to get into the death zone. Still to have 50 to 60 pins at a time working your spread is awesome to watch!
