I have a savage 110 longaction chambered for .243. It's pre accutrigger model. What if any option do i have to rebarrel this to .308, .260, or 7mm08? How much would this cost and how labor intensive would it be?

Cost is going to depend on which barrel you want. Is this a DIY project or are you looking for somebody to do it?

If it's a long action with a standard 308 bolt face, there are many options. Any cartridge based on the 308 Win or 30-06 would work. Also a 284 could be possible. If you reload, it's hard to beat the 6.5mm and 7mm high BC buillet options.

Savage only built Long Action guns for about 15 years in the 80's and 90's, even 243/308 family guns were on long actions. Assuming you have one of those, there are tons of options on rebarreling

If it is a short action, then only short action calibers would work- 243 Win, 260 Rem, 7mm-08, 308, 338 Federal, 284 Win, etc. 260 Rem and 7mm-08 would be my top picks.

Yes I wasn't mistaken, it is a .243 long action model 110. It has a wood stock and no accutrigger. I bought it brand new as one of my first rifles from Kmart I that says anything to it's age. Lol. On a serious note that gun shoots like a scalded ape, and I would like to possibly get more deer hunting use out of it in another caliber. I have seen some shaw barrels on here for sale would something like that work? I do not plan on doing this myself, buy would love to learn as much about it as possible.

I couldnt support a company(shaw) that patents helical fluting...a process that has been done way before they came around. Rumor has it they will pursue anybody who does helical fluting too.

Since its a long action you got a lot of option on calibers. You can change out the bolt face on it for pretty cheap so you dont have to stay with a 308 size cartridge

How much would this cost and how labor intensive would it be? I have extra barrels in 7-08 and .270, both Stevens takeoffs. I have all the tools to make the swap on that 7-08 but for .270 I would need to get a head space gauge first (and for anyone with suggestions, no, I don't want to use a fired case...) PM me if you're interested.

The fastest and most economical turn around time, with great results we use at the gun club is Shaw Barrel Co...One of the Bandera County Deputies had a rifle re bbld. to 308 w/Hvy Bnch Rst bbl...It was cheap, they squared the bolt to the reciever, blueprinted the action/ w cust bbl I think Jerry said it was under $450...It shot in hole grps from the getgo..Don Dial,Pipe Creek
