Went out Saturday and nothing came to the feeder. I am a new hunter and I just wanted to know if the full moon was a good thing or bad thing to have? I do know that we had wind gusting up to 35mph. I know we have lots of pigs coming to the feeder. Help I need bacon.....

I've shot pigs and yotes during the full moon just using my scope without turning on my light (xlr250). I would say full moon can hurt you in the sense they can see better than we can, well predators can anyways. But they are usually on the move with a full moon. But just get out there and hunt anytime you can, to get as much experience as you can. Shot this one thursday night around 4 am full moon no light. Couldn't get a shot at its running buddy. I think wind is more important than moon. There was vertually no wind that night, they ran past me at 25 yards and didn't know i was there.

I let the air out of a pig on Thursday with an almost full moon. Didn't even use the light. Yours may have been eating acorns instead of corn that night. Keep at it, they'll be back for sure.

Got a pig about 10 Friday night and a yote about midnight Saturday night. It was breezy enough that the windmill pumped steady all night both nights. Shot both animals by the light of the full moon. Doesn't seem the moon phase matters much.
My experience has been the wind matters more. You don't want a gale but a steady breeze has been helpful for me. I get the no shows on the dead calm nights. I think the hogs scent me on the dead calm nights because my scent lingers in the area. Light variable gusts in variable directions is no good either. Just a steady breeze just enough to keep the windmill pumping is about right.

Some time ago, I went back and compared my successful hunts to the moon phase. About 60% of the kills were during a moon that was half full or greater including a couple that were very close to a full moon...within a day or two of full moon.
In other words, I found no real correlation between moon phase and successful hog hunting.
