I just bought a Thompson/Center Icon from a fellow THF'er and that is an awesome rifle. It comes with many features like aluminum bedding, 5r rifling and integrated bases. Fit and finish is excellent and they guarantee 1" 3-shot groups at 100 yards.

I like the tactical. Just always been told that barrel length makes a diff. I honestly don't know enough about it tho

the barrel wont matter for a hunting rifle. you can still shoot 1000 with it.
