Guys,
Shot this buck late Sunday evening. He came out and I noticed his right side looked pretty good and went ahead and shot him. I was disappoint when I walked up and noticed how his left side was weaker that the right. Do you think it was a body injury? injured in velvet? or just genetics? I'm still kicking myself for breaking my rule of not shooting a buck in low light...

I'm under the impression that an injury to one particular side of a deer will have an impact on the development of the rack on the opposite side of the buck.

I think he's a respectable buck and it's meat in the freezer!!

I noticed that too. Either way it is a meat in the freezer. Congrats.

Looks like an injury. Not sure if his bad eye could do that, hard to tell age from pics, but he is definitely grown in to his bases. How old do you think he is? I wouldnt kick yourself for taking him whether an injury or just old. Good buck and congrats!

Great looking buck. From the looks of the G3 and mainbeam on the left side they both have a slight bend in them. Looks like he damaged them at the same time in the mid summer months. Not genetice from the looks. Not every buck has great symmetry though to start. One side is always going to be a little bigger than the other.

No shame in that buck. Hard to tell what may have caused the weak side, but I'd have dirt checked him too.

He looks alive in that pic
