He is not usually very accurate with his info. i live on the south end of san antonio, in the country somewhat, been seeing a few bucks around my house, one dead on the road, others crossing the roads, id say they are on the move, i rarely see deer around my house, specially bucks.

it is pre rut... the younger bucks are chasing does, but none of the does are in heat, and most of ur older bucks wont give chase until that happens.
People like to call it rut when they see a buck following a doe, but that is just pre-rut until those does come into heat...

I hunt about 15 miles north of Fredricksburg. Bucks were chasing pretty good last weekend, and I saw one doe get mounted by three bucks under my feeder last weekend. It would be hard for me to call that the pre rut. Also got to see a prety good fight out of that deal.

It's on but I agree with Brandon. So far, only the young immature bucks are moving (as of Tuesday 8 hunters and nothing down). I hunt NE Blanco Co.

The past few days I've seen all the young bucks running around chasing does but I have only seen one shooter and that was today around 11. It is definately starting here. I'm glad I'll be here until next friday.

Im a UPS driver and deliver the canyon lake, spring branch, new braunfels area. I have seen the bucks actively chasing does. Some are nice mature bucks, some are young bucks. I was just delivering the fm311 and rebecca creek rd area today and saw a very nice buck sniffing and tasting the air while following a nice female. IMO the rut is on. I have timed the rut after watching deer movement in the hill country the past 15 years. I find the peak of the rut to be Nov. 17. This is not fact, just my honest assessment from my experience.
