I'm going to Academy to buy a rifle next week. All the firearms that I own have been handed down through the generations. I have never actually purchased one. My concern is criminal background check... I had a DWI about 12 years ago and was wondering if that would throw up a red flag. Also I was falsely arrested about 8 years ago on a felony burglary charge. the charges were dropped and has since been expunged from my record. What will that do to my chances of walking out with it on the same day of purchase? My wife has her CHL and could just waltz right in and walk out with it but I want it to be registered in my name. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Firearms are not "registered" in anyones name, unless it is a class III weapon.

So would it be a better idea to just have her buy it? I would kind of just like to know if it would work out for me alone but I don't want to have to wait for a 3 day delay.

you shouldnt get delayed. do you owe back child support, have a bad DL, outstanding warrants? if not you wont get delayed.

I'm all clean. Not so much as a speeding ticket in the last 8 years. This makes me feel a little better about my chances of walking out with a rifle next week when I get paid. I'm excited about getting the optics on it and getting it sighted in for my first piggie hunt...
