I'll post the short version of the story and follow up with the extended version later on.
My boat sunk, total loss, lost tons of gear, please help
If you find any gear from Lake Grapevine please let me know.
Here is a short list: Decoys Boating Equipment Clothing
Thank God for life jackets (we always wear them) and the Game Warden who saved our lives, + 1 small yellow lab.

well, im glad to hear your ok. Sorry to hear you lost your gear. Do you know where the boat went down and have a way to recover it? Did grapevine or flower mound fire dive for the boat?

It was super windy this morning and was worried about all the Jon boats crossing the lake. Some big rollers out there when we were headed back to the ramp. Life jackets do work!

And I have never seen a duck boat not over loaded.
If God wanted labs to point he would have gave them a stick

You might go to Bass Pro's website and look for a magnet. They used to sell a recovery magnet just for such occasions. Tie it on a rope and fish for shotguns etc. Glad to here you are OK. I am affraid this is going to happen on the Barney because folks are having to put in on the big end of the lake.....
Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

I feel your pain, same thing happened to me. Life jackets will save your life, I learned the hard way. Glad everyone is ok.
Jager is like liquid xanax. Wake up looking like you fell in a tiger exhibit and crawled through a leech filled swamp to get out.

For everyone running up the lake to hunt...say you put in and have to run up the south shore, when you get past the catfish hut cove (this building was once called the beach club), theres a point on the main lake, once you pass that point there used to be a fence row submerged out there about 150 yards or so out in the lake, I hit a fence post a few years ago and thank goodness I wasn't at full throtle...talk about scary in the dark! I don't know if its still there but the water was VERY low that year, just wanted to pass it along.

The wind did blow and it pushed the water level up 3" on that end up there. Some of those rollers where approaching 4ft. Tell us where you went down and I'll keep a lookout for anything for you.Glad your ok stuff can be replaced a life can't.

We still don't know what caused the boat to sink, waiting for the weather to calm down and we will attempt to recover the boat and find what went wrong.
I'm leaning towards either:
1) my live well filling up (shifting too much weight to the back end)
2) front end getting pushed straight up from the wind
Either way my guest should have been seated in the front seat to balance the load better. I've hauled a lot more gear in the past with this boat and never had any trouble, it's also possible the transom broke off.
