I'm looking at suppressing my .308, 22-250 and .223. I know the differences between the SS, inconel and titanium. I'm looking for some real world experience with anyone using their suppressor in multi-cal use. I'm leaning toward the AAC 762 SD, is the SDN-6 worth the extra $200 and is there a better suppressor for the money? I'd prefer to stay around $900

Thats my plan, AAC 762SD for my 300 Blackout, 308 rem., 6.5 Grendel, and my 223. 30 cal.can will work well with the smaller calibers, but to get the full effect, will need to load down the loads to sub sonic. This was told to me by the AAC tech. guru.

Oddly enough the 762SD tested better than the 762SDN6 with 300AAC blackout. Of course differences in ammo, gun, etc could mean different results. Also there are the physical characteristics to consider. (The 762SDN is a bit smaller). Here's a link to the test results: http://www.silencertests.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=74394

I should have my 762SD in any day now... It has been 4 months and 3 weeks to the day today. Next on the list is the 300 Blackout upper.

I use an Arbiter from SAS. Works on anything smaller than 300 wm. It works very nice on my 308, but I wasn't really pleased on my 223. I recently purchased a 300 blk upper and WOW this thing is amazingly quiet. I've literally heard louder pellet guns!! The only real advantage of the N-6 is the size, with it being extra compact it is handy if your going to do an SBR. It doesn't do as well as "full size" 7.62 cans, but you've gotta account for the lack of size. For my money a general purpose can is not going to be the most compact setup.

Honestly I was thinking about doing the same thing until I saw a guy shooting a suppressed AR at the range. It was loud enough to require earplugs. Maybe with subsonic ammo it might be quieter, but after witnessing that I couldn't justify another $1000+$200+4 months of waiting.

This, I was also looking into it for my AR but after watching numerous videos and reading a ton I figured I'd not get one for my AR... Figure maybe if I ever get around to building my bolt gun I would get one for it the 30cal seem to be way way way quieter.

My 762SD came in two days after I posted on this thread. I will tell you this, the AAC 762SD makes a WORLD of difference on my .308 shooting supersonic ammo. It more or less "throws" the sound towards your target. I sighted in my SPS Tactical AAC-SD without any ear protection and it seriously wasn't needed. I did have a couple of videos of my buddy shooting it, but the iphone crapped out and I lost a weeks worth of pics and video. I do have video of the 762SD on my 10/22 shooting subsonic ammo and it is crazy quiet.
I will definitely have video of it this weekend when my Pops and I go predator calling.

I hav a Shark Tiger Shark (300 Win Mag rated) for my 300 Win Mag, 260 Rem and AR-15's. Shark offers adapters on the can to change between thread paterns on the barrel. It works well.
I also have a certificate for money off a Shark can I won in a competition, if anyone is interested in buying it. David (Shark) makes the best suppressors on the market. I've seen numerous cans have no point of impact shift with and without the can out to 1K yards. They are awesome!

I'm leaning toward the AAC 762 SD, is the SDN-6 worth the extra $200 and is there a better suppressor for the money? I'd prefer to stay around $900 Yes I have used both on the same platforms Remington 700 AAC-SD 20" .308 Remington 700 SPS Varmint Chopped to 16" .223 Spikes 10" SBR AR's are going to be on the level of hearing safe no matter what, because your getting a high degree of gas eruption from the ejection port as soon as the bolt un-locks. That being said it sounded the same to me as when a dedicated 5.56 suppressor was being used again I think it has a lot to due with gas blowing out the ejection port. On the bolt action I have not had a chance to run the .30 caliber vs a 5.56 suppressor so I could not give you an honest assessment. On the 762SD vs 762SD-N6 I went ahead and chose to go with the 762SD-N6 for two reasons, it was shorter making a smaller platform and due to the construction differences between it and the regular it is inherently stronger. Main reason is I knew ahead of time this suppressor would be run on multiple Short Barrel Rifle and Auto platforms which cause more wear and tear on the baffles so as advised by both Mike and John @ AAC I went with it instead. Another piece of advice if you plan on running it on SBR's and Auto's is to use the Muzzle break mount as it essentially give you two more blast chambers before it hits the actual blast baffle which can help protect your investment. That being said if you never plan on running it on a shorter rifle I would take the difference and invest it in more QD mounts and Run the Regular 762SD.

I just got my Yankee Hill 7.62 Phantom in. It's heavy but I shot my .308 with supersonic ammo and it was awesome. No hearing protection needed. I'm gonna try it on my 300BLK next week.

I went with Yankee Hill also. Got a 5.56 QD can and a 7.62 QD can on the way(I mean several months away). Still havent decided if Im going to keep the 7.62 can or sale it when it comes in. But I have heard a lot of goog things about YHM.

I love YHM as well. The finish has held up much better than my Gemtechs have.
Suppressors aren't as quiet on a gas gun, but its still a major difference. Especially hunting like hogs. I get multiple shots on a sounder when using a can, as a matter of fact have had them run towards me. It disquises where the shot came from greatly.
In addition, don't let a shooting range make your decision. Most shooting ranges have roofs, which make it sound louder than it is.

Make sure you get a AAC muzzle brake with it. Then as soon as it comes in, come on over so I can run it on my AAC-SD and decide if I need to invest in the money as well.
Also if you run standard .308 ammo through them, no real difference loud, need ear plugs but quieter, don't need ear plugs but loud or .22 quiet?

The brake, can and trust ran me $1198 out the door. The checks have been cashed and now it's a waiting game.

An adjustable gas block will tame the ejection port noise significantly but will not eliminate it.

If a 7.62 can is used on a 5.56 is it not as quiet as a 5.56 can would be? Any other drawbacks to doing this?
