Goin' on a hunt next weekend and need some reccommendations for a good, reasonable priced taxidermist in the Houston area. Also, where do ya'll get your meat processed and how much do they charge? Thanks for the help.

Chris

I just took a deer to Last Step proccessor in Humble. Ive had some of their sausage before and I liked it, not sure of there consistency yet but I will find out. Silver Seal processor in Tomball has consistently been good over the years but I was really impressed with Last Step when I had it. As far as Taxidermist goes, I can recommend Tejas Taxidermy, my friend does some work for him, seems pretty good.

for the mount i have a freind that does work thats fantacstic. If you would like his number i can give it to you. Also for your processing i go to a place called ceroknochs they have the best sausage i have ever had. ill give you the number if you would like. you must quarter up the meat first, otherwise they wont take it. they are very clean and i assure you that you get your deer and not someones dirty deer that has been in the sun for a few days.

I would recomed both of those places, PM if you are interested what ever you do dont got to dozers meat processing there meat is bad. hope i can help a fellow houston

Prasek's in Wharton is hands down the best around....and they do tamales, which are incredible.

For mounts, there aren't a whole lot of affordable places anymore, but there are several that do a really good job for the $400 range on a shoulder mount
