Anyone have any personal hands on experience with this rifle. I just got back from a 10 day Colorado Elk hunt with a Remington LTR .308( 12 lbs scoped) and I wont be doing that again next year. Love my Rem, but its not going there again. The idea of this Savage rifle at 6.5 lbs loaded with scope is very appealing to me right now. I have never been a real Savage fan, but this rifle looks good and is very light. I do wonder about accuracy in a super light weight rifle, but taking 6 lbs off your back all day long just sounds too good. Savage M11 lightweight hunter

T3 is 6.5 empty with no scope. Savage is 5.5 empty with no scope. This is the lightest production rifle I have seen. Ultralight Arms Rifles are 5.3 lbs, but thats a $3K rifle.
I added a link in the OP to the Savage Website for you guys viewing pleasure.

Im really not a fan of these super light rifles, but that 12 pounder plus a pack on my back kicked my butt last week after 40 or 50 miles in 10 days.

The most recent issue of American Rifleman did a review of it. If I remember correctly, they were getting like 1.10" groupings with their test, 5 shot groups. I would say good enough to hunt with. Full disclosure, I'm a Savage fan in general. I think they're great rifles out of the box. The article reviewer seemed to be impressed overall.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Unless you just want a new rifle you might check out a double shoulder sling like one of these. ---> Here ---> Here ---> Here ---> Here The double shoulder do make a big difference, half the weight on each shoulder does make the rifle feel half as heavy and leaves both hands free. What kind of brick did you attach to your LTR My LTR weighs 9lbs 2oz with scope 4 bullets and sling.

I'd rather tote the Kimber Montana. I toyed around with one chambered in 325wsm today at the range. Recoil was a bit stiff, but I could see where the advantage would be when toting it up and down the mountain.
There's a review of the savage 11 light weigh in this month's issue of American Hunter Magazine.
Cons: 1.rougher bolt throw than typical savage 2. Fluted bolt drags on top of next cartridge
Other than that, the review was pretty positive. This particular one was in 6.5creedmore.

I didnt know about the Montana, I will check that out too. What kind of brick did you attach to your LTR My LTR weighs 9lbs 2oz with scope 4 bullets and sling. I changed stock out to a 5R stock, added Steel DBM bottom metal, used a big scope, used all steel scope mounting hardware. All added to the package. I could start shaving weight from the LTR but I like it the way it is and I have just about talked myself into a new rifle for mountain hunting.

Savage does make a pretty decent product, especially for the price range. The fit-and-finish obviously won't match a Kimber, but they are good guns. And the accu-trigger is a nice touch.

There were 2 Savage reps at our rifle club last month and they had one of these M11 Lightweight Hunters in 6.5 Creedmore. I fired 5 shots with it. It had a Nikon Prostaff scope which the rep said he was having problems with. Said it kept losing zero all day. Recoil was less than I expected for the light weight and it was really a good looking rifle. Can't say much about the accuracy. Shot about 2" at 100yds but again the rep said he thought either the scope or mounts were moving around. Trigger was wonderful and the bolt felt pretty smooth.
