Long story short, I lost my private hunting area. I havent hunted public in 4 years. I havent had the chance to go scouting yet, so I more than likely will not go this weekend. My dog and I will be whining all weekend. Who else is missing opening weekend?

Not many good excuses in my mind. Physically incapable or working and there is no possible way to get off is about it. Besides that the only things standing between you and opening morning may be a pissed off woman that will get over it and some gas money that needs burning.
If you hunted public before dig deep in the memory bank and be in one of your old holes come shooting time.
Sometimes you gotta make it happen.

Toledo is right. Do a drive by to check the water level today or Friday and leave extra early on Saturday morning. Work and family and money are the only three legitimate reasons not to hunt this weekend.
Good luck if you go.

Besides that the only things standing between you and opening morning may be a pissed off woman that will get over it and some gas money that needs burning. While I would tend to agree, here are a few additions to your rule: Son is playing in his league's "Superbowl" on Saturday & I am one of the coaches, the league would not reschedule. Daughter is having 7th b-day party on Sunday, which was scheduled without consulting me....not a chance I am asking for a reschedule. So I can't go this weekend. I think I will try to make it out Monday, not sure how good that will be after the weekend of shooting but I will not be at the office.

One of the few places I used to hunt public is now surrounded by subdivisions and not a hunting area anymore. Bummer, it had some great walk in spots. I may go out Saturday afternoon and look around for a place for a Sunday hunt.

Will chase birds after the deer situation is taking care of. Whats wrong with you migratory fellas? Get your priorities straight.

Mod's please delete this thread because it's depressing me for these sorry sacks.
Guys you got to get your stuff together and pick yourselves up. I'd rather sit on a dry hole and get skunked than sit at home saturday morning waiting to get the reports back. Also work...dude that's no excuse unless I'm mistaken we've all known when opening day is for a long time. If needed I'll let you know when opening day is next year right now...it will be a guess but I'd bet money that I'm right.
You are all worthless and weak!
Seriously guys...sorry to hear you can't make it out. Perhaps another time. Just don't let that time slip by for too long because in a blink of an eye we will all be on here talking about how great this season was and what we are going to do in the off season.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

If needed I'll let you know when opening day is next year right now...it will be a guess but I'd bet money that I'm right. You would've lost that bet this year I'm going but a single duck would be a bonus based upon what I have seen. If it is bad I am going to sleep in on Sunday I am looking forward to the season starting but I am not excited about getting up so dang early...signed not a morning person.

I have never missed an opening morning in my adult hunting life. Of deer season that is. Yes, I will be deer hunting saturday morning. But I can have the best of both worlds. The wooden layout u-boat is loaded, Blaze is waiting by the door, and I will be headed way west by the time anyone reads this. I may only kill divers, but at least I will not be one of you "sorry sacks" sitting at work or home like that no hunting one year wonder. Sniper out.

Ain't a dayum thing keeping me at home on opening weekend! It's time to hunt ducks for the next three months! Let's go!!
Dry Creek Outfitters - North Texas Duck, Dove, Turkey and Pig Hunts! Widgeons shall now be known as democrats. Living off the hard work of others.

I miss opening day more than anything. Even on my private area, I was usually out during the first week, not opening day (deer hunters-my boss). Hahaha, you guys are hard on a brother! I will be out plenty during the season...hopefully.
