I have thought about leaving my atv at the lease, but we have no enclosure for it to keep it out of the weather. Im wondering if you guys who leave them at the lease have ever had any problem with mice/rats eating the wiring?

I would be more worried about it missing. Someone last year was targeting deer camps and stealing 4wheelers (not sure if they were ever caught).

Neighbors got theirs stolen. Not worth it.

I'm not too worried about theft as I have it insured. My main concern is the rats and mice eating my wiring.

Just throw a tarp over it and a pack of rat bait on the seat and you will be okay.

We leave ours at the lease during deer season but that's only because we have a big metal barn to chain them up to and keep them out of the weather. And our LO comes through everyday to check the cattle!
You can run but you can't hide...

leave mine at the lease in the LO garage. She uses it fairly often. Not hard riding that she does and hat keeps it cranked often

I leave mine, Artic Cat 400, at the ranch full time. I built a shed similar to the deer blinds but without windows. It's 4 1/2 ft wide x 8 ft long x almost 6 ft tall, made out of old privacy fence. 1 whole end is a door to drive in and out and you need a side door to get on and off the 4 wheeler. Both doors have locks but also carry insurance.Put a storage shelf at front above front part of wheeler to store things. Privacy fence allows enough air circulation to store gas can and keep moth balls and rat poison to discourabe mice. Has been there 5 yrs and no mice chewing on cables. Works for us.

I leave my Polaris ranger in the barn during season and have found if you take a rag and put it in a cup and poor diesel in it it will keep the mice out.

Leave mine at the lease year-round. Never had problems with rats....just cows! Dang cows have eaten two covers and a tarp. Finally, found an old air mattress and used it as a cover - no problems for two years now!

Rats can and will chew through anything. one chewed through wires and one went through a brake line. We where careful not to leave any food of any kind.I guess the drought drives them out of one area only to find another.

Along these same lines what about keeping batteries charged and fresh?... assuming you have electricity available.

They chewed through the leather and destroyed the foam underneath on me one year. Leaving them in the elements is tough.
