Got an old one the other day. Would not cycle. I have cleaned it. Now I put one in the chamber and two in the magazine. Have not fired it yet. I pull back and empty chamber, round drops from magazine, but does not pick up the shell and re-chamber. Is this normal for this gun? Would shooting it cause it to cycle into the chamber?
I have never had an 1100, this one is old, came with a skeet barrel only

o ring is in tact, but my question is when unloading it, you take one out of the chamber and it drops shell from magazine, should it not feed or cycle to the chamber? Or do you have to depress the button on the carrier to load it.;
Obviously if shot, it would keep cylcing until empty, in theory

When the shell comes out of the magazine onto the carrier, it should trip the carrier latch allowing the carrier to lift the shell up to be pushed into the chamber by the bolt.
Check that the shell catches are properly staked and not dragging on the shell, might have to replace the magazine spring.
The gun may work fine when shot as the motion during recoil coupled with the shell exiting the magazine tube onto the carrier might be enough to trip the carrier latch.

Double check the interceptor latch too, since you're there.

1100 or bad about buildup of trash behind the Carrier hinge point. Be sure to clean that area with either a strong spray cleaner or a good brushing. It doesn't take much to stop the carrier from moving far enough to cycle.
To answer you question yes you should be able to empty the magazine by hand cycling the bolt.

Not pertaining to your question but just fyi in case you did not know. Make sure that the two metal gas relief washers (the ones by the rubber o ring that have tiny little notches in them) are turned so that the notches are on the opposite sides/directions.
