Im looking at maybe getting a 25-06. It would be a whitetail gun mainly. I have a 7mm mag for larger game. What are your toughts on this round? Any pros and cons? Ive never shot this round. Im just unsure on accuracy, speed, power ect. Please advise. Thanks

Great round I load it for my dad's 700 Remmy pushing 110gr Accubonds at 3000fps a lil slower than some but shoots .5 moa

hard to beat a .25-06 for anything on 4 legs up to elk sized game
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Probably the most versatile caliber for Texas. They all fall cleanly to the quarter-bore-06!

Great round! I have used this caliber in a Sendero for the last several years and it shoots great. I am going with a 270 in a Sako this year as the Sendero will wear you out stalk hunting.

good round. I bought one last year and really like it. I killed 5 or 6 deer with it, mainly does, but it does a good job. I'm shooting the 117 grain BTSP hornady

Fantastic TX gun. Flat shooting and low recoil. I worked up loads using the 110 gr Nosler Accubonds. .5" accuracy and lights out on WT and pigs.

My go to caliber for Tx hunting. Got me a rem. 700 a couple years ago and it's a shooter. I'm shooting hornady 117 sst's and they have done the job everytime.

There was an article in the American Rifleman a few months ago on the 25-06. It argued that in today's era of bullet selection that notions about the 25 cal/6.5mm bullet, in particular the 25-here was a picture of the writer's son with an elk he shot at about 350yds, I think, with his 25-06. Apparently it was DRT.

Awsome round you will be happy with it! stick with the lower grains...around 100 or so if your rifle likes them

I really appreciate the advice and feedback. yes and no, compared to a 308 it does worse, compared to a 22-250 it does better. 2000 to 3000 rounds are expected from a 308 or 25-06

Love both of mine! Only down side is ammo is not as available as say .270 or .30-06. My tikka likes the federal premium 117 gr (I think?) and my #1 likes the Federal blue box (dont you love it when the gun prefers the cheaper ammo!). When I worked for an elk outfitter in N.M. the owner's son shot a cow elk at 275 yard with a .257 Roberts and killed it DRT, but I would not recommend any .25 caliber for elk or larger game.

I have thought about it for awhile myself. I already have a .243 so on the lower weights (up to 100 gr. doing OK).. So its either a .25-06 with 117 grs. or a .270 shooting 130 grains. I already have .30 caliber rifles.
