With the prices of licenses going up every year, it seems worth it. I am 27 years old and it will pay for itself by the time I get around 40 or so.
Does anyone have one?
No one knows that the future holds for me or for hunting and fishing in Texas but it would make sense to bite the bullet.
Just looking for some drawbacks to it.

No drawbacks at all. If I could come up with the money upfront I would do it but I don't have $1250 or whatever it costs to plop down right now. We had a friend who bought one before moving to MN for $500 years ago and let me tell you something that was a great investment cause out of state hunting licenses get expensive. His first 2 trips back to deer hunt paid for his lifetime license in the savings he got. In the long run you would come out way ahead if u continue to pay every year vs. the lifetime license.

I bought mine last year for $1,000. To me, it is well worth it. No drawbacks that I can see. If new stamps etc. are added, the lifetime license covers it, you don't need to do anything. It's also kind of neat to fill out the HIP form, mail it to Austin and they send your tags to you in the mail. No need to stand in line And I almost forgot, if you move out of state, you can still hunt Texas W/O paying out of state fees.

Yes! I considered I should have dione it around 30 years ago. Now I figgure I have 20 seasons or less left in me and that would be on;lly waht $50 a season at $1000! Not abd but I get super combo anyway eversince they offered it. I figgure even if I dont hunt al lthsoe years and I hope I hunt more actually than I am guessing,its helping with cost at TPWD somewhere. If I ever have a loose 1k,havent in last 10 years or so Id do it!
When I am stupid they dont mind me;
when Im right they want to scold me....

If I had the money lying around, I'd do it in a heart beat. If I had a son, I'd find a way.

I have already bought my super combo for this year. I just payed my truck off so if I pay myself 2 more truck payments I will go ahead and buy the lifetime. I have wanted to do so for the past 5 years but it hasn't worked out.

I'm a lifetime combo tolder....You can't go wrong. If you think about it, by the time you buy a super combo with all your stamps/endorsements, the lifetime should pay for itself in the neighborhood of 10 years at todays prices. I have no regrets in getting mine several years back.

I've been wanting to as well. I haven't had the money, but as soon as I do... I'm just tired of the price going up every year and my paycheck not increasing at the same rate as all the other 'costs of living'! Who knows where the price of a hunting license will be in 10years? It will definitely be worth it!
