Every once in a while I would load up a bag of 10 of them and go to town. Not when I'm in the mood for a good hamburger, when I'm in the mood for those little burger-like things.

White castle is nasty. If I never step foot in one it'll be to soon. I wouldn't recommend it to no one for no reason.

I'm of the same opinion as previous posters.
White Castle does not fit into ANY category of 'food" that I have found. My question: Is there really any meat (of any kind) in one of their 'burgers'?

im sure there is but you could asked the same question about every fast food joint out there. It just doesnt make sence how a burger can be cooked and ready to eat in under 30 seconds

They opened one in Waco about 2 years ago and it lasted 6 months. It is now a Raising Cain chicken place.

I love them. In fact I bought 16 boxes of 6 (frozen) to put in my freezer when they were on sale last weekend at the grocery store.

When I was stationed in NJ a few years back. I tried them twice, both time resulted in too much toilet time 30 minutes later. They are a sure way to clean your system out!

That's why they call them sliders.

It's an aquired taste, You need to grow up with them. My mother ..back in the mid 50's would put me in the stroller while my dad was at work. We would go up to a big Sears store on Lake street (Minneapolis) and then have dinner at White castle. We didn't have a lot of money.. I was eating them under a year old.

White Castle is so bad, it makes In-N-Out seem edible.

Definitely an upper mid-west icon...I ate them all of the time when I lived in Chicago. Those little burgers are lovingly called sliders. I agree, they would have a tough go in Texas.

Made it a point to try one last summer while visiting up north. Food quality is on par with McDonalds.. Mostly onion and some beef substance in patty.. Possibly worse.. What we DO have is Whataburger!!.. best fast food on the planet... smile

Its funny, bcause a lot has to do with where you are raised. I grew up in the Detroit area and LOVE White Castle. Everytime my family picks me up at the airport I get some burgers! When I lived in Phoenix, once a year one of the radio stations there used to rent a jet that flew to Michigan and got burgers and it was a big party as the burgers were flown back to Phoenix and everyone was there to get their White Castles. Now I live in San Antonio and when I moved here I saw Taco Cabana everywhere. Took me forever to go into one. They opened in Phoenix and were gone within 6 months since the food was so bad. There are also Whataburger in Phoenix, and they were one of the WORST places to eat. Food was terrible, but here not to bad. I like Carl Jrs and In-N-Out a lot better!
