Just got a Mossberg 500 with 18 1/2" barrel for home defense.
Saw a scoped rifled slug barrel in a website. Wondering what the effective range of a rifled slug or a sabot round would be with this 12 ga. barrel? Would it be good on deer out to 100 yards?

125-150 yards effective with a good sabot slug.

Yes I agree. It does extend your accurate range quite a bit compared to a smooth bore.

100yds should be no issue with a fully rifled barrel and sabot slugs. Try some different slugs to see what your barrel likes and
