Just got a call from my wife that she is taking my oldest daughter (10) to the hospital for surgery tonight. She had a staff infection about 3 months ago and now has resurfaced under her arm. The wife took her to the pediatrician this afternoon and the Dr. said she needed immediate care. Wow my head is spinning so fast right now I just can't think straight. Please put Natalie in your prays. Thanks the Wester Family.

Sorry to hear about that.

Your daughter and you and your spouse are in mine and Lora's thoughts and prayers.

Your situation is one of the reasons why I am thankful I was kept out of the gene pool, I do not see how anyone can hold up with a kid ill like that.

"Thank you guys, right now they've just taken blood and given her an I.V. I know who my maker is and trust and believe in him, but to look into those innocent eyes of hers and tell her everything is going to be ok and try not cry in front of her... I'd rather suck a gallon of vomit thru a straw.
Stuff like this is a good reminder of how good life is and all the things we have to be grateful for and the little crap, well is just crap.
Ok just found out she'll be having surgery between 10-10:30 tonight. All you out there with kids give'em a great big huge hug tonight, tell'em how much you love them "lump in throat" and then give them an extra hug. I imagine it will be Tuesday before I give an update, peace my friends and God bless ya all.

When I got up this morning, I never once thought about spending my evening in a hospital just waiting for the seconds to tick by, waiting on the Doctor to finish with his prior surgery (another child)so he could perform his skills on my daughter. It was a great Monday, just like any other day, I wake up, look around and realize I'm still 6 feet above ground, I'm healthy, ready for a shower and a cup of coffee, then kiss the kids and wife goodbye just like every morning (unless there off from school and sleeping in) however I still steal a kiss from them weather they know it or not. Traffic was normal, I watched 13 geese pass over head as I traveled 190 to work and thought that made the day even better. Listened to Paul Harvey at the 7:30 hour like every morning, and pondered what needed to be addressed first thing at the office. Monday nights are Natalies and my night to watch Hero's, as the time gets closer to 8:00 Nat will holler "Dad, five more minutes" as I sit two feet from her. I retort back do you want more meatloaf and pototoes. Most of the time she says, with hand on hip and head cocked, " Dad how can you eat at a time like this".
The 10:00 witching hour arrived, and then passed and finally turned into 1:00 am, the Doctors came in and told us there plan of action and said the surgery would last about 30 minutes. We watched as they administered the medications to prepare her for her surgery, nothing at this point even seemed real, it was like a dream, the kind you wish you could wake up from. It seemed like seconds, but it was 35 minutes and the Doctor came in and told us Natalie did great, the lump was about the size of a golf ball or slightly larger, cleaned the area out with a saline solution, put a drain in her arm that she'll wear for the next 3-5 days and then they'll remove it. She'll be in the hospital for the next several days. In the mean time they will do a culture on the bacteria to determine what antibiotic will do the most good. Since this is the second time she has had staph in the last 3 months they want to make sure they get all this time. The wife is good (bless her heart, there were no rooms available until some time Tuesday, so she will be, well I don't know about sleeping, but hopefully getting some rest.
NEWS FLASH 4:00am wife just called and said Nat wanted to talk to me YAHOO...she said she is doing MUCH BETTER but would be doing better if she could have some Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes and Corn on the Cob...but was going to have to settle for Ice Chips, BORING she said. And that she managed to get a room after all (who says prayers aren't answered).
I'm now at home to get the 6 year old ready for school in the morning, I'm tired and am going to take Tuedsay OFF, also I promised Nat I'd bring her C.F.S for lunch. Thanks too each and everyone of you for your prayers. Love God, yourself, your kids, your wife, your family and friends, because we really don't know when will see them again.

Two passages came to mind as I read the thread. One from the Old Testament and the second from the New.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowlege him and he will direct your paths.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

God is good and he responds to the prayers of his people!

“And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
‭‭Micah‬ ‭6:8‬
