Has anyone seen plans for a homemade feeder that meters feed output? I have found many PVC gravity feeder plans but if deer, etc. hit it hard, they will empty the feeder in a couple of days because it empties as it is eaten. I am looking for an idea for a feeder that releases a set quantity of feed at regular intervals. The feed will be in powder form. Any ideas? Thanks, Robert

Thats a valid question. Since my feed is a powder, and most feeder timers are spinner motors- the powder would just spin out into the air. I need it to be dispensed in a pile of powder so it can be eaten. Thanks for the reply.

maybe something like an automoatic dog feeder or something. I would just stick with the pvc. Only other thing that comes to mind is something like the nocturnal nightmare feeder.

what about encasing the spinner plate in PVC and letting it fall into a catch pan or something instead of it spinning into the air ?

Get a 12 volt timer, remove the motor, attach a solenoid/actuator
that pulls open a gate or door that allows the feed to dump.

Dump style feeder perhaps would work.

Make a PVC feeder that on the bottom has the gate valve off of a travel trailer sewer dump on it. Connect a servo to it on a timer. When the timer goes off, the gate would open and then close again.
