OK. Please be easy on me. This is my first year to bow hunt and was wondering can I bow hunt during the general rifle season? I told you this was dumb but I sure would like to try and get something with my bow.

You may be right about that, but I would not carry both bow and rifle....maybe a pistol.

I know during "bow season" you can not carry a handgun unless you have a permit but during "general season" I don't know why you would not be able to carry both? Not that I would. I sure want to make sure I don't break any rules.

If it is gun season, you can carry your bow, a 30-06, a .270, a 7 mag, and a .357 if you want to. During "Archery Season" it is exactly that, archery only. The only way you can have a firearm on your person during archery season is if you have a current Texas CHL and the gun must be "concealed".

At my old lease I had a tree stand in an oak thicket that was looking over a major travel corridor / creek bed, but there was a large winter wheat field just on the other side of the tree line that was out of bow range. During rifle / general season I carried my bow and a 30-06 in case I caught a deer moving away from me through the field.

You left out carrying a 22 for the squirrels and bunny rabbits, but that is a great answer.

GW ain't gonna care what you have in the blind with you, and ANYONE can tell the difference between a 22 wound and ANY wound from a centerfire rifle.

Oh I understand now. I have carried my 10/22 and my 30-06 into a deer blind many times. We had an abundance of turkey at my old lease and I would shoot the turkey in the base of their neck with the .22. The GW came by our camp all the time and he never had a problem when I walked into camp with both rifles.
