Got a question for the exotic outfitters... I've got a couple 3 year old bison cow's that I need to get rid of later this year. We figure on keeping one for our own freezers (love that buffalo meat!) but will need to sell the other.
Live delivery to an auction house isn't an option. Way to wild to trailer.
What would be a fair price for a bison cow like this? Would not really be a hunt.. just a harvest. We'd field dress the cow and deliver it to the local processor. Might be willing to offer one nights accomdations. Ranch is located in the Texas Panhandle.
Thoughts?

Due to the drought they are going very cheap at places like Raz. The thinking is, 1 buffalo eats as much grass as a whole herd of blackbuck, axis, etc. The exotic hunts are more profitable, so there just isnt a whole lots of demand for buffalo this year. I saw a few cows go through for $350-600. If you can hold them til spring then you will probably see the market way up. Just my opinion.
If you wanna sell them as a harvest opportunity let me know. I run a 120 member hunt club in Texas. I could probably send out 1 mass email and have them all gone for you. Then they would all come out on the same day to get them. It would just be less trouble for you that way.

950-1350 is what I have observed...Sometimes it depends on age... not an exotic outfitter/rancher though, just an exotic hunter.

When are you wanting to shoot it? I might be interested. You can pm if you want.

Well maybe I am off, the last sale I went to was over a month ago. It has rained quite a bit since then. Robert, what have you seen them live on the hoof for?

I recently inquired about a buffalo cow hunt on numerous other ranches / farms websites and on this website. The going rate for a hunt was between $1250 and $2200. Had several people tell me that buffalo on the hoof were going for $2.00 a pound at the sale barns. Sure wish I had seen your post about a month ago. I was unable to find a buffalo cow within my limited price range. Settled for another animal hunt there in Texas that was in my price range. Nothing against the animal I eventually hunted, but I would have much preferred a buffalo.
