Cabelas has LE trade in Glock 22's priced at $349.00. They show holster wear on the finish but beyond that, i cant tell condition. Is that a good price for one? I'm thinking about getting one but wanted to know what you guys thought?

Sounds good to me. You could always Duracoat the slide and make it look new...

what would that cost? not knowing the age, is there a concern over the internal parts? the rifling didnt look real "sharp" would that be a concern?

In a nutshell, Gen one has no finger grooves and no stippling. Gen 2 no finger grooves, but has stippling on front and back. Gen 3 has finger grooves, stippling and a rail.
Gen 4 totally different looking slide etc.
Any would be fine, but Gen 3 is most popular. Gen 4 is out and I still sell WAY more Gen 3's than I do Gen 4's.

The reason the rifling doesn't look sharp is that Glock does not use traditional rifling in its barrels. It's supposed to look like that.

cool...thanks....wanted a 19 but saw these at the price and thought i might pick one up..... you can get a after market 9mm conversion barrel for it, replace the extractor and use 17 mags and you now have glock 17. I did this with a G32.

GT Distributors has them for $279 and $329, depending on the condition. They also offer a coating service for the slide and barrel that gives it a matte stainless look for $85. Go check them out.

I think that is a great price, but I like Glocks... If you buy one keep this in mind when shooting it. Because Glocks have polygonal rifling stay away from cheap lead target ammo... --see below--
Lead bullets and polygonal rifling _________________________________________________
The manufacturer Glock advises against using lead bullets (meaning bullets not covered by a copper jacket) in their polygonally rifled barrels, which has led to a widespread belief that polygonal rifling is not compatible with lead bullets. Firearms expert and barrel maker, the late Gale McMillan, has also commented that lead bullets and polygonal rifling are not a good mix. Some have made a point of the fact that neither H&K nor Kahr explicitly recommend against lead bullets in their polygonal rifled barrels, and feel that it is probable that there is an additional factor involved in Glock's warning. However, Kahr's FAQ does include a warning that lead bullets can cause additional fouling[7] and recommends special attention to cleaning after using them. In addition, while H&K doesn't warn against the use of lead, at least one well-documented catastrophic incident in an H&K pistol[8] may be related to this issue. Furthermore, Dave Spaulding, well-known gun writer, reported in the February/March 2008 issue of Handguns Magazine that when he queried H&K about their polygonally rifled barrels that they commented: "It has been their experience that polygonal rifling will foul with lead at a greater rate than will conventional rifling." One suggestion of what the "additional factor involved in Glock's warning" might be is that Glock barrels have a fairly sharp transition between the chamber and the rifling, and this area is prone to lead buildup if lead bullets are used. This buildup may result in failures to fully return to battery, allowing the gun to fire with the case not fully supported by the chamber, leading to a potentially dangerous case failure. However, since this sharp transition is found on most autopistols this speculation is of limited value. The sharp transition or "lip" at the front of the chamber is required to "headspace" the cartridge in most autopistols. Another possible explanation is that there are different "species" of polygonal rifle and perhaps Glock's peculiar style of polygonal rifling may be more prone to leading than the particular styles employed in the H&K and Kahr barrels. Leading is the buildup of lead in the bore that happens in nearly all firearms firing high velocity lead bullets. This lead buildup must be cleaned out regularly, or the barrel will gradually become constricted resulting in higher than normal discharge pressures. In the extreme case, increased discharge pressures can result in a catastrophic incident.

They sell new ones for LE only but the ones I was talking about are in their used gun case. Those are for sale to anyone. Call the Dallas store and see if they have any and you can confirm that you can buy one. They had some last week when I was there.

It is very inexpensive to replace the guts in a Glock and the chances of the parts being worn to the point of needing it are slim to none. They are simple and they work. You can't go wrong with the Glock. There are endless mods for them out there if thats your thing. Get the gun and a few mags and it will serve you well.
