 Garmin Astro map loading help

O.k. Getting ready to go to Kansas to hunt some WIHA's I noticed that there is a free map download that shows all the WIHA's & even a road map that shows all the dirt roads leading to them. I got it all loaded to my handheld garmin gps 60 csx with no problem, then I noticed that my Nuvi (car GPS) was compatible, so I loaded it onto there also, but when I plug the Astro into the same cord, it finds the astro, but says it has no free memory? The specs on the astro says it has 1.7 gigs of internal memory. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
