I think these Big Country storms are going to skirt around us, so I'm headed back out to the tree. Last time we were out, we got tangled up with a nasty javelina and got a visit from the GW. Let's hope this front will get 'em moving. I'm putting the bush-rags on now and waiting on the wife to get home. Y'all come along. I'll try and keep you in the loop.....

Sorry, had to come to Frisco to see my 11 year old grandson play football. He plays for the Cowboys in the FFL. They are now 5-0. Might give the Dallas bunch a pretty good tussle!

The rain is one thing but an electrical storm is another when you're in a metal stand. I got a little wet. Tune in next time. Taking the phone apart and going to let it dry.

How much rain have we gotten out there?

It was a nice evening to sit. The rain did let up for about 30 minutes and the birds and sqirrels came out but then the turds started floating and the lightening was pretty close.

It was a pretty good soaker for several hours. It should do the tanks real well. I don't have a guage up.

As for the javelina, evidently, Eastland county has them....just don't shoot them. He was all by himself and I pulled my camera's card and he was on it several times. I won't be posting pictures of him though.

I say I "know" the GW....I don't know him but being from a small
town, we have met. Our families had a mutual friend when he was out in Midland. He's a good guy - Lee Dycus. From what I understand, he's wanted to get this job for a few years now.

That's awesome to have another good game warden. I spoke with Zach the other day. They are good friends. I saw a pic of a javi in s'ville last year or the year before.

I'm 6 miles Sw of eastland,just checked my rain gauge and it goes to 5 inches and its full!! and still raining..

Alright, Mike. Did Patti pull a bolt back on your crossbow? I told her to get it ready before she left for work so you wouldn't have an excuse for not going. 5 inches is definitely a soaker. I hope the fish don't suffer from all of the silt.

Well last sunday I went and tried to sight it in,and that turned out to be a bad idea,guess I'm going to have to wait to get the docs release(the 17th) b4 I try it again,that will leave me time I hope....still getting pics with deer at the feeder during the day

For you guys around Eastland and Carbon, there is a wildlife seminar/field day around the corner from my place on October 15th. It is being put on by Cook Canyon Ranch and the TPWD. They are going to discuss Quail,Mountain Lions,Hog Control, Deer habitat Etc. It will be from 8:30-4:30. You must RSVP if interested. I will try and load the info on here if anyone is interested.

I would go to it but we have hunters that I will be guiding that weekend.

We're back on stand this muggy morning. I was able to het permission and did find the javi....no pictures, though as I think you'll all understand. We stirred up the area pretty good yesturday looking for him and filled the feeder so it might put the deer on alert today. I should have just worn a short-sleeve b/c it's humid. I'll try and keep this updated....

According to my lunar calendar, I should be covered up. I guess the deer didn't get the memo....

I tried lunars last year and didn't work out for me either. Glad ya found the javi. They make cool skull mounts. Good luck!
