I bought one for my son for his 11th brithday (2 1/2 years ago). It has been a great bow for him. Easy to adjust draw length and has grown well with him. He has taken a couple of pigs, two does and a his first buck this year. You definately sacrifice speed and let-off to get the adjustability, but, you are not going to get top end performance in anything that fits an 11 year old kid. When he approaches full grown will likely swap for something a bit better, but do not regret the purchase at all.

Just saw your "Beginner Bow" post. I would not buy the Maniac for an adult. It is a fine bow, but they had to make performance compromises to get the adjustability...just a reality of design. The trade-off is worth it for a growing kid but plenty of other bows out there for the same price where the engineering $$ could be invested in performance vs. adjustability.

Maniac is a good bow. We've sold several and people really like it. It's a good bow for a new archer/bowhunter, and it can be passed down to kids, girlfriend/wife when you get that new Mathews......

Hell, I own one and I'm 30 yrs old and not a "new" bowhunter. It's a great bow and shoots great. I've killed several deer and hogs along with the occasional squirrel over the last two years with it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again. At 70 lbs I'm shooting around 297ft/sec with my set up. I know it's not as fast as others out there but it gets the job done. If name brand doesn't matter to you, it's a heck of a lot better than the price tag of the other ones. Now if your shooting one ALL the time, and doing other stuff than hunting, you might want to spend the money, but if all you do is hunt, it's a great alternative in my opinion.
