Very interesting question. Normally the heavy rut in central Texas is between Nov. 10th to Nov. 25th. Some start as early as mid Oct. and some late Dec. This year with the history making drought it will be interesting to see if and when the rut comes about.

See Ranchman's reply.TPWD did this study a few years ago by collecting(killing)doe from around the state that were pregnant.They studied the fetus's of the deer and back dated to the timing of the rut.From personal observations it is spot-on.

The TPWD info is as accurate as anything I've seen heard read or stepped in.

TPWD is accurate. The only problem I had was last year it picked up on Monday and had already slowed by the following weekend in my area. Once you hear it's beginning I think it's best to start getting a slight to moderate cough while at work....

I hunt in Llano and Runnels county. I swear by TPWD chart it is pretty accurate. Last year I saw the rut in Llano and Runnles county first 2 weekends off rifle season.
