I currently have a rider policy on my home owners insurance for guns but the deductable is the same as any claim on my house so short of a major loss id never file a claim. I recently had the USPS lose a gun and not honor the insurance so I have been looking into a gun only policy.

On several other forums I have found multiple people talk about www.collectinsure.com to get firearm insurance.

I spoke to them on the phone and the prices are super cheap, no deductable if your claim is over 50 but I can’t find much online about anyone who has filed a claim to find out if they actually pay just people who carry them. I hope I never have to file a claim but if I do I want someone who will pay.

Does anyone have a gun only insurance policy they have filed a claim with an had good luck with?

Any advice to make sure I don’t buy a piece of paper that’s worthless would be great!

I think the NRA does a decent policy with a membership

I also have a rider on my homeowners ins., but the max for me is $2500. I looked into a seperate policy through the same company, but they wanted pics, serial numbers, and apprasials on each one. Looked like too much of a hassle so Im investing in a large fireproof safe.

Most homeowner's policies provide limited coverage for firearms. An endorsement increasing the amount of available coverage is a wise idea. Just make sure to get replacement cost coverage, not actual cash value.

State Farm covered a break in at my place. $2,500 max on firearms. However, the overage was carried against the deductable and I ended up "ok". Well, not really, but I ended up as well as could be hoped for. No rider or endorsement...

Shooter5645, I shipped a civil war pinfire revolver to a company in FL to have some custom ammo made for it. It was shipped tracking and insured... somehow along the way the post office misplaced it and could not find it. I filed a claim and was told they don’t pay claims on prohibited items and all firearms from non-ffl to ffl are prohibited. I had appealed based on the fact pre 1899 guns don’t apply but they said any non FLL to FLL shipping would not be covered regardless of age.
