I used to always think, I have pictures at night, deer could care less about the flash on my game camera. Recently I've been staying later in the stand to the point where the game camera begins flashing. Every time it went off the deer would jump and go into a more alert state. Yes, the deer are still very hungry and stayed around but I was suprised to see just how shook up the deer appeared simply from the flash going off.

I stayed late too, because there were deer at the feeder. They took no interest in the flash. It scared me more the first time that it did them. They were very spooky to begin with and I was actually surprised they didn't run off when the camera flashed, and they were about 5 yds from the camera.

Guess it depends on the deer - maybe mine were playboy deer foldout models and love the camera?

The deer I was watching both saturday and sunday would jump up and turn around every flash. Then head right back out and keep eating.

It can scare them in the daylight too. My bro in law has a camera that when it snaps a photo a little lens drops down and it makes a faint click noise. He put the camera out last weekend and everytime it went off the deer would stare & stare & stare at it. I'm use cameras myself but I'm becoming kinda leary of them, I've had several bucks get photo'd once and never saw them again.

I never had the flash scare them off, had many pic's of them licking or their nose on the lens
