Well guys…..to say we had a successful weekend would be a MASSIVE understatement. I tagged along with a group of friends and clients on a corporate hunt at one of my ranches just north of Fredericksburg. We took six trophy animals: two Scimitar Horned Oryx, two Axis, one Fallow, and one Whitetail.

Three of these animals were exceptional specimens. One of the Scimitar Horned Oryx will likely be in the Top 10 ever killed!! It was a bull with horns measuring 45 2/8” x 44 0/8” respectively (as far as I know, the world record is 48"). The only Whitetail killed was a HUGE buck measuring 191 3/8” gross (inside spread of 23.5”). We also took an Axis buck with the longest browtines I have ever seen or heard of…..18 inches!!

was that oryx a bull??? I thought the cows typically had the longer horns, but hte bulls were heavier?

Yes, it was a bull!! If you look very closely in the second Oryx pic, you can see his scrotum. The cows typically do have longer horns....but this was definitely a bull and he is the biggest one I have ever seen. He actually had good mass (7.5" bases)....it is just deceiving because of the length.

The ranch is on the MLD program....which allows people to start hunting Whitetail with a rifle during archery season.

Did he gut-shoot that white-tail, or is that just a spot of blood?

Wade awesome animals that is a gorgeous oryx. And that whitetail is a monster both actually and man that greg guy is a giant!!!

Actually, the buck was quartering to us a little bit....and he did hit him a little back. But that spot you are seeing is the exit wound. He did hit a little gut material....but thankfully he was shooting a 300 Win Mag and the deer only ran 10 yards.

He was shaking quite a bit (I was too!!)....and the shot was around 150 yards, so I think that's why he was a little off.

What an oryx and that whitetail is perfect..... A stand up 12 point over 185" is one of my dream animals. That axis is also going to make a wonderful mount

Yes he is....the client just didn't want a narrow-racked buck. He wanted a wide deer, and obviously he got what he wanted

how many thousands of dollars does a 190 inch whitetail cost on a high fence ranch. Not trolling. Honest question. 15 grand?
