oh, did a meteorologist write this?
if he can tell me if it's going to rain 3 weeks from today, I'll give him some street cred. otherwise, he's just looking to get his name in the media.

If the guy that predicted that 15 year drought is the same guy that said we had a 90% chance of rain last night, then we have nothing to worry about.
They are studying trends and tree rings!
They kind of missed predicting the start of this drought, or did they just now decide to look into it, after we didn't get rain for months?

PLEEEEZZ! These are the same people that can't even ACCURATELY tell us what the weather will be 48 hours from now. What happened to the guy that predicted just a few months ago that La Nina was going to move out and we would be back into a rainy pattern by September? He must have crawled back under his rock! These people seem to come out of the woodwork just to get media attention.

I said La Nina was falling apart a few month ago, and it was. It was almost completely gone. And then it just reorganized and now we're facing another year of it.
The problem is that long-term trends are easier to predict than whether it's going to rain a week from now in a particular place. And the history overwhelmingly suggests we'll have a multi-year drought at this point.
Hope he's wrong, but I'm not going to plant any more trees.

Has anyone looked at a copy of the Farmer's Almanac for this year? I haven't, but would be curious to see if the drought is alluded to.

I heard the same kinda just a few years ago when we had a drought. They claimed we would look like west Texas in 5 years and then a few weeks later we had flooding rivers, streams and lakes and next thing you know all the "experts" were having to look for some other way to get thier name out there.

They now say El Nino will continue another year and if so, it will stay rough.

Just saw on news that today we just reached a new record low of 11.2" for ANY 12 month period in history. That's just crazy! That was for the Austin area I think is what it said.
