I created a Microsoft excel spreadsheet which estimates cost and supply days based on feed time (in seconds) and frequency. You will need excel on your pc to open the spreadsheet. These are broad estimates..your mileage will vary. :-) Screen shot: Download excel spreadsheet: http://www.fileswap.com/dl/XxSoZ4PT/CornCalc.xlsx.html

Where did you get the calculation for the rate of feed?

LOL the reason I did it was estimating how much it was costing me to feed hawgs and coons...cause I rarely see a deer on the trail cam.

Great Idea by the way and well done...I would plug mine into it, but after the thread "How much do you spend on hunting," I am done figuring total cost...that made me

I pulled the feed rate baseline from moultrie. The feed rate formula adds 20% to that rate for each 2 seconds...I sanity checked it against my moultrie feeders and its fairly close a full 55gal feeder supply is 3 months throwing 2x day for 8 seconds.

Way too many variables on feeders and corn for this to work. My feeder puts out 3# in 4 seconds.

Change the .75 to 3 lbs then! It is just an estimator Mr. Grumpy. It looks good.

Not grumpy, it just won't work for reason stated. Won't work on two identical feeders........

We just hold a garbage sack around the feeder timer and hit the test button. We then pour the corn in the garbage sack into a marked zip lock bag to be weighed on a dietary scale.
I think all of ours were throwing around a one pound per throw. So, (and this where all that high math learning paid off) if it throws a pound a throw, two time a day, that is, well let's see....yep, that is two pounds a day from one feeder! Now, let's see....300 pounds in the feeder/2 pounds a day, well that is 150 days worth of corn in the feeder. 150 days or 5 months.

The spreadsheet will work, but each feeder would have to be tested to see how much corn is being thrown (by actual weight), then plug that into the equation. Cool, Thanks
