We could ask my brother! His nickname used to be "gimp" shooter! All of his deer used to have one side of there rack messed up!

How about this for a guess... Could it be that good antler growth depends in part on stimulation to the antler from rubbing/scraping the antler or button and leg injuries make deer favor one side over the other (front/opposite, rear/same) so the less favored side suffers? I thought it was BS but you guys seem to agree it happens. I just have a hard time believing it is in the make up of the deer, some kind of genetic/brain/whatever message to tell one antler to "do" better than the other. That leaves behavior, which seems to me to be more likely as a cause... Anyone?

We watched a deer for three years after another hunter wounded him and sure enough the opposite side always grew deformed, my dad finally shot that buck when he was 7.5
