Is anybody using this camera or have used it in the past?
1.How do you like it?
2.Does it take decent pics?
3.Is it reliable?
4.Whats the battery usage like?

I seem to be drawn to junk cameras. My 1st moultie was a good camera but stored it for a year and could never get it to work again. My 2nd Moultrie was a good camera after i returned 3 of them for bad leds. had it stored in a container that got full of water and didn't know it. needless to say that trashed it. My 3rd was a bushnell trophy cam this was hands down the biggest pos ever. Keep setting up in yard but it wouldnt take pics finally discovered when you closed the case the batteries came out. Fixed that with a spacer.finally got a few pics time to take to the field. Set in the field and was unable to check it for 2 months was exited to see what was still on the property. got there and discovered it had rapid fired and had taken 3042 pics and the battery died.
Didn't want to repair after reading reviews so I exchanged it for the moultrie I-40 XT hopefully this will be better.

I'm wondering the same thing. I had a Moultrie I-40, the original black one, and it was fantastic for about 3 years. Took tons of great pics, great battery life, and just very durable. Then, this last season, the LCD screen went out. $15.99 for a replacement screen from moultrie, and there is no warranty on it. Since then, I have bought several cams, and backyard tested them before taking them 4 hours west, to my lease. The first was a Wildgame N6C, which was a POS. Trigger speed was god awful, and the motion sensor was mentally challenged. I walked around in front of it for about 40 minutes, with it set on 30 second delay, and it took 4 pictures for 30 minutes. Back to Academy.

The second was a Primos Truthcam 35. Another POS. Same issues as the Wildgame. Back to Academy.

The third was another Moultrie. This time I coughed up $150 bucks for the I-35. Backyard test was successful, so I took it to Mason to set up at the lease. The first night, I set it up on my lease and I checked it the next morning and had only 27 pictures. But, that was better than anything else so far. Then I looked at the pics and the times, and realized that all it had done was taken 3-shot multishot images of the same group of deer for about 10 minutes.

I also hunt on the little 5 acre pasture that my grandparents own and live on, and it is just right down the road from my lease. After the feeder went off that night, I walked down there with the spotlight and saw 4 nice bucks eating corn. So I decided to put the Moultrie out there the next night. I went out, slung several big handfuls of corn around the feeder, then set the timer to run for 10 seconds that evening, and 7 seconds in the morning. I wanted to have tons of corn out there for the deer to eat so the cam could take tons of pics. I also went to the cam, and turned off the Multi-shot, so it would only take 1 picture, and I also set it up with the 15 second delay. I thought this would give me the most pics. I aimed it toward the feeder, and mounted it at the recommended height in the Moultrie manual, then came back the next morning to check it. EVERY kernel of corn was gone. There were 3 pictures. One when the feeder went off in the evening, one when it went off in the morning, and one of my face when I opened the camera to turn it off before pulling the card out.

Needless to say, I was pissed. The deer cleaned up all the corn. There should have been hundreds of pictures, but instead I did not see one deer. I'm infuriated with these cameras, and I just want something to work. The I-40xt or the D-55 are on my list to try next. If those fail as well, I am done with Moultrie altogether.

I have had 4 wildgame innovations and all were junk, they work good untill the batteries get below 70% then the flash stops working. I got my son a Primos truth cam 35 last season and it has taken well over 10,000 pics without any issues what so ever. im going to pick me one up this week! It takes an 8gig sd card and the wild game innovations battery pack works with it as well.

Maybe I got a bad one then. The Truthcam 35 I got was horrible. I think a lot of them are hit or miss.

Hopefully by now, Moultrie has cured their problems with the LCD's for both the I-40's and the I-60's! They both take great pictures, but have had problems in the past with the LCD's going bad.

I exchanged and I-60 for a newer I-60 this past spring, and so far no problems. Three years ago, I went thru two 1-40's with bad LCD's then upgraded to the I-60. It lasted two years until just this past spring.

jdickey, any experience with the D-55?

I like the D-55. Kind of bulky but a pretty good camera. I have pretty much stuck with moultrie because the customer service has been good to me.

This year I am using the new m-80 and I have been pretty impressed with it.

I still have two I-40 from three years ago and they work great. Had to replace the screen on 2 of them, but the $15 was better than another $150 something.

Stay away from the I-65. The battery pack in the bottom comes lose very easily. I have two of them and have problems with them staying on. You can push on the bottom (where the batteries are installed) and they will do fine, but I have had them turn off after a few days in the field.

Same experience here - so glad I found that $15 replacement screen on their Web site. The camera still takes outstanding pictures and the battery life is remarkable. Worth the time to repair if you ask me.

One thing to note on the I-40 (I think I only put it in a PM to someone), but if you take electric tape and put it over the LCD, y won't have any problems. I have 3 I-40's and two of them the screen went out. Didn't put the other one out for a year, because I forgot I had it, and I used the electric tape. Camera is 3 years old, been in the field for 2 and haven't had an issue.

I picked up a couple of I45's for $99 this spring and they've been great so far. Still seeing them at Cabelas and Gander Mountain for $160 or more, but these were at a sporting goods discount store I check uot pretty regularly.

Not sure if they have them in Texas, but Dunham's Sports is the name and they are having a great deal on tree stands right now. Thinking about picking up 2 or 3 new 20' ladder stands cause they are so cheap compared to what they were a month ago. Just leaving my old ones up and letting my old hunting party have them, and putting up all new when I get to Texas.
