I am building a watering system by using 3-55 gal plastic drums on a trailer. I put faucets on the drums and regular water hoses going to a header. I use a float valve on another drum cut in half. I plan to put the waterer in the feed pen and park the trailer up the hill for gravity feed to the float. Anyone got any ideas to do this better or easier?

330 gallon tote tank as a supply would be a better option. Use a couple of the 55 's as a filling option. Should be high enough in the back of a truck to get most the water out.

So I have been thinking about a watering system for next year. My question is how do you make these things varmit proof? I would assume a coon would chew through a hose. We have two water well's on our property so perhaps a watering systems on my lease would be pointless?

Use the metal, burst-proof washing machine hoses.

330 gallon tote tank as a supply would be a better option. Use a couple of the 55 's as a filling option. Should be high enough in the back of a truck to get most the water out. That works for me. But I didn't get any deer on the game cam until I tossed some camo over the tote. I guess that giant white cube out there was a little tough to get used to, even in this drought. I took a 40 gallon tote and used a ratcheting strap to secure it to the side of the cage for the critters to drink from. I use a short length of old garden hose to fill the smaller tote and the coons don't seem to be bothering with it so far. I also mounted a camera on the cage abpve the 40 gallon tote abd the pics are starting to come fast and furious. Our tank dried up 2 months ago and the hogs just about disappeared for the 1st time in 3 years. They are back in force now and the deer are hitting it hard too. I would highly recommend anything you can do.
