With all the interest on this forum concerning the hunt drawing I have an idea. How about TPWD doing a video to detail the drawing process from beginning to end? Showing an application being recieved and processed. Show the choosing and winning process. Just an idea and my 2cents

Psalm 3:3 - But you, O LORD, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.

That sounds like work. I'd love to see it, heck I'd like to see them post the drawing dates or perhaps cut back on the snail mail and just email winners if they opt that way on their applications.
I'm still confused on how they drew the bow hunting results one week after the deadline but not the gun hunts that deadlined on 9/1
???
I guess it's a state thing

As cash strapped as the TPWD is right now which programs would you propose that they cut in order to make this video? Or rather which hunts would you prefer them to cancel?

The entire process is so freaking easy. Just mail in your card, pick up the phone or wait for the post card. My God. The mob mentality is out in force and nobody's stopped to think how much $$$ this would cost and the fact that that money could be better used elsewhere.

Not asking for a big production. Not even something similar to a small segment on the TPWD television show. Look at all the slick homemade productions on YouTube. Mob mentality no but my2cents Almost forgot ..... stir peep bolt

Hell I would not even want to think what that would cost. States and Governments cant do anything that doesnt cost the tax payers an arm and a leg.

I agree with buckman. Tpwd is cash strapped. Has been forever. If you don't think they are, look at some of the tpwd vehicles you see at some of the SP's, WMA's, or SNA's. . Many have to have hundreds of thousands of miles wear and tear on them, judging from their condition. With those that are complaining that the public hunt gun draws haven't been drawn yet (12 days past deadline now), think about the crises that tpwd has been/is facing right now. Even if they do the drawing in austin, Think of the reallocating of resources, biologists, money, etc it is taking to take care of the wildfires that have unfortunately charred most of bastrop SP. I agree the system isn't perfect but it's simple and it works. Patience.

Seriously, I have no faith in taking this to the internet/social media aspect because we constantly hear of hackers destroying everything they can from Government websites, facebook to financial institutions. TPWD has asked this question in the past and I voted no and I work in this IT field so can you imagine what anti’s could do to this system if it became an internet procedure. I love the fact that some are just too lazy to research, fill out the applications, mail and wait out the results because we live in a world of instant gratification. I have bigger problems with the draw system and the Lotto draws than applying or being able to know the results by way of the internet.

As far as TPWD being cash strapped that was not the case back in the mid eighties TPWD actually ran a surplus in the millions but thanks to a greedy congress and governor they striped that money and put it in the general fund to pay off the debt. Guess why every year you see increased fees for hunting/fishing from licenses, stamps and other manipulated fees.

Get your facts straight - TPWD does not increase fees for hunting/fishing licenses, stamps or any other fees each year.

Please tell us where you see increased fees this year or the previous year?

I agree with keeping it low tech in the app process. Makes it a lot harder to throw a wrench in the works from folks who would like to see us go away. I'm sure the effort in doing the research and filling out the apps does thin the herd a little too. To me, that is all part of the hunt. The anticipation in waiting for the draw results is kinda like Christmas when I was a kid.

Don't think so - that took place in 2009, not this year.

For what reason, so more crowded phone system (automated) when everyone and their neighbor is checking to see if they been drawn and it only jams the drawing. Probably why there isn't a set date for the drawings.
