Do yall think that a 22-250 is enough for deer hunting?

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and
bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against
tyranny in government.

you won't be shooting deer with a 22-250 on our place.

(I have personally had the binoculars on a deer while the man next to me shot a doe with a 22-250. Hit her like a bee sting, no blood and did not find her, but she probably died)

that guy now shoots a .270. When he shoots, he brings deer back

a 22-250 is not ENOUGH for deer, but a 270 is PERFECT

Have to add I have assassinated many deer with a plain ol' 55gr Remington soft point, of course all shots were in the head or neck at less than 80 yards. Not many long stretches here in the hill country.

Why would you even want to chance it?

You should have been here yesterday!

I would if the situation was right. Neck or head only. I have too many other options so I would choose one of them first but it will work.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I have hunter for the last 30 years with a 22-250 have killed many white tails axis and muledeer and over 125 hogs with out losing one I get tired of people saying 22-250 is not big enough. Know your gun and know your shot if you only go to the range once before the season opens to shoot your gun then maybe you should be hunting with a 458 mag.

If I'm not hunting, I'm hunting something to hunt.

My 7yr old son shot his 1st deer last year with a 22-250. Heart lung shot from 100 yards and dropped the 7 pt in his tracks. The day before I killed a hog with a head shot. 55 grain rem soft point. Plenty of gun to get the job done.

I don't smoke ,so I can't say but I highly doubt it. I do know a loud fart works! I think they like the smell plus I guess they think it's a buck grunt.

2cents Here we go,will it? yes. My son killed his first one with a .223. heart shot at 50 yds. Grandaddy killed ALL his deer with a .222, but it was head shots only, didn't want to waste the meat. IF that is all you have, hunt with it, but be able to hit a SMALL target at your feeder range! I have seen Llano county deer, badly hit by a 350 Rem. mag we didn't find.
And MY .222 Rem. 788 will take out some hogs this year.

Yes it will kill a deer but is less than ethical for use when there are so many other calibers available

See my rather lengthy reply so a similar question concerning .243s. I just don't see why you'd risk wounding and loosing game with an undersized bullet. Yes, proper shot placement is always important, but sometimes the perfect place isn't attainable. I took my best-ever buck last season and the shot I had to take was less than ideal - quartering away and about to dissappear. My 140gr. core-loct from the .260 put him down in his tracks. Me thinks a 55 gr bullet may have simply slashed open a shoulder. Just my opinion - but would point out that most of the deer I've had to track (for hunting partners) over the last 28 years were shot with .243s and smaller.

So she says "sure Honey, I agree, you DO need a new deer rifle..." And that, boys, is how I ended up with new living room furniture!

I've had to track deer with lung shots from my 7 mag but didnt with the one my 7 yr old shot with his 22-250. Plenty of gun in my opinion. My 57 yr old uncle will not use anything but a 22-250 and he has killed more deer than I could ever dream of.

You can only hunt with something smaller then a 300mag if your taller the 5'10, if your shorter then 5'10 get ready for the 300mag

Varmint bullets, varmint calibers, yep this thread has become an epic failure!

Kind of my thinking on it if you have a chance at needing to stretch one out. Typical setup of feeder <100yds a 17 should be enough gun.
