I am in the military and just got stationed back in Texas after spending the last 15 years in Socal. I have an area that I can hunt on the family ranch west of Ft. Worth but the 4 hour drive really kills doing any before or after work shooting.

What I am looking for is a day/season lease withing an hour or so of San Antonio, East, West, North or South does not matter. If anyone has or knows of an area that meets these requirements drop me an E-mail at ossdoc2000@yahoo.com.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Jimbo,

Imagine bumping into you here, how are the cats biting at calaveras? I already knew about Bullis (I'll be working there come february) I also checked over at lackland, I did not realize they allowed hunts on the Medina annex (dont know if there are any birds there though) I Still would not mind finding a few other spots though, be able to move around and do a little scouting to get on the birds before and after work.

Good deal navdoc. That buck in my sig. came from there last year. The birds are thick as fleas on the Medina Annex. I haven't hunted there in a few years since I've got other places to hunt. I sometimes hunt Bullis also for doves but they are scattered, and you just have to find them. I like to hunt there and check out my hunting area later in the day. Saw two really nice bucks so far at Bullis near my hunting area but come deer season they tend to go underground for some reason. LOL!

As for the cats, I'm going to go in the morning and give it a try until the sun comes up and it gets too hot to be on the water. Hopefully I can catch a few and be home by 10 or 11.

BTW, if you hunt on the Medina Annex get you a pair of snake leggins. That place is thick with rattlers. Never seen so many in one area as that place.

Jimbo,

thanks for the heads up. I will probably try and scout out the annex on the 16th, I am gonna pick up my new "free" super combo and my base tag/permit or whatever they call it. I am also planning to drive over to bullis one day this week if for some reason you want to go let me know and you can ride with me and we'll give it a look over besides I need someone familiar with the place to show me around if possible, if not I'll just wing it so to speak.

As for Deer I usually hunt on my family ranch up north of San Antonio for both deer and turkey, I also do 2 trips a year to North Western Montana (wife is from there) and get in some muley and Elk action along with my fly fishing fix for the year.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I am also in the military, and was wondering if you could tell me how to go about hunting medina.
