any recommendations on a night vision scope to put on top of my AR-15 for some hog hunting? Wanting to keep the cost as low as possible, but still get a decent scope for 200 yard shots. Also want to be able to make out the difference in a hog/calf at 200 yards... Easiest thing to do is contact Ident Marking. They are in Rockwall. You can take your gun there and they will show you different combinations that work with your weapon. That way you get what you want. Hey hdfireman is his name by chance Jason Krum if so I hunt and have some of his nightvision he has a nice setup. Yes Sir it is.

I would also recommend the guys out at Ident Marking. Three of my friends have bought there PVS-14, IR, and 3x magnifiers. These are awesome setups!! And if you ever have any questions or problems, you can call them anytime. Great people to work with. And like said before in this thread, you def get what you pay for.

So the Pulsar Digisight N550 records video on an internal hardrive? Or do you have to buy an external device to record with? I am pretty much set on getting the Pulsar Digisight N550 but want to get everything I need to record the shots while I am picking up the rifle scope.
One other thing, most of the videos I see on you tube are of .17 HMR and .22 LR videos at rats and rabbits... This scope is not going to have a problem with the recoil of a .223 is it?

Yes the Pulsar Digisight will record internally. It won't have a problem with heavy recoil either. The reason you see all the Youtube videos with hunters only seeing rats and rabbits with them is that Digisight was first released in Europe and alot of the countries over there don't have guns like we do. If your looking for a Digisight, we are a authrized dealer for Pulsar, give me a shout and I will give the THF discount price which is much less than Cabela's.

There are vids on youtube where guy mounts to side of day scope NV monocular and uses laser that is his aiming point of impact. So yes it can be done. But laser spooks hogs so it probably is better to use IR laser. Just can't find video now. What do you guys think?

West Fork did they come out with a new model because the N550 I have will not record internally? You have to buy an external recorder. They recommend the Yukon MPR.
You can download custom designed reticles to the scope. They have software for you to design your own reticle and then download it to the scope.

I just went on another successful hunt with multiple night vision and thermal devices in use, unfortunately by the other hunters. But for my money, I would rather pay the money for a CNVD type device with a good Gen3 tube.
The guys with the thermals saw the pigs coming in, but it was the guy next to me with the NiteHog Gen3 Warthog that confirmed we weren't looking at calves first. IMHO, the better optic the safer the hunt.
I had a borrowed Gen2 Aquila and couldn't positively identify the hogs until they were around 175-200 yards out. My brother was using one of the "digi" scopes, he couldn't make them out until they were about 100 yards away. Which was just when our guide had us light'em up.
Now if only I could afford to get a good thermal for spotting and stalking, and the clip-on nightvision at the same time!!!

You are correct, it will take a plug in recording device to actually record. I was meaning that you don't have to hook a camera to the back of it to take a shot, which if you've ever done so, is nearly impossible. Also I can't say for sure yet, but they are trying to make one that is completely internal recording, but there is no telling when that scope will be released.

I sell stuff for them and they engrave all our SBR's, nobody will touch the prices. We can get you real deal 3rd gen gear for 2 gen prices. Anyone interested message me and we will get you fixed up cheaper than anyone.

Well it is true on the prices of his nightvision. If your buying it from a dealer who has bought it from a dealer then your paying there mark up, you buy direct from the man who builds them you that is how you get GEN 3 for Gen 2 price.
