Hey Yall

Im a avid fisherman but new to hunting ,I need some tips on how to make a cheap and easy hog trap so I can get some meat to smoke , I seen some deer here this past winter but no hogs yet, Im hoping I can attract some hogs and get some meat to eat !

I got 10 acres at my house and a creek its currently dry right now lol and its right next to a lot that has 100 acres with a few cows and and its across the high way from a big wooded area in Denton County but its condisdered city limits so I cant shoot my guns here to hunt.

Honestly, if you're not seeing any hogs and don't have any hog sign then I wouldn't waste my time trying to trap. If there aren't any hogs in the area then it'll be tough to attract them there. Right now dry creeks aren't doing them any good, they're gonna be around the creeks that still have water.

Ponyboy is right, what you need to do first is setup a feeder and with game camera to check whats coming into it. The feeder and for every bag of corn put one packet of grape/cherry jello. it will help get the scent in the air. If they are hitting the feeder. Buy about 20-25 tpost and 4-5 5x20 section of cattle panel. Build a circle trap right around the fedder with two of the panels coming to a V. Prop it open with a stick and trip wire to rear panel. Make it to were more can push in but can not push out. Deer can still jump in and out. But once again, if there are no hogs. Dont waste your money. PM me for pics of trap if interested.

Then again if you have a welder and have a local metal yard that can cut the angle iron for you. Build your own swing door trap. You can be like me, at least when they bust out of it, I know its cause of my horrible welds. Ha. Good luck
