Accidentally got Long Range dove load instead of Heavy Dove load (which I normally shoot with). Help or no help?
Got a case, and of course Academy won't take back ammo, so I'm stuck with them either way. Just wondering if I might see some improvement...better, for twice the price.

Yeah, asked for exchange, but they won't take back ammo that has left the store ("don't know where it's been, whats been done to it" blah blah blah)
Not concerned about the price at this point, so don't need to sell them. Just wondering if I'll see any noticeable difference from what I'm used to shooting.

They make a big difference. You will like them if you keep them.

By "long range dove load", what exactly did you buy? They might be just fine depending on what it is.

They make a big difference. You will like them if you keep them. x2 you get what you pay for. So you got some nice shells, shoot them and enjoy them. They will last forever, so use them when you really think you need them, or on a special hunt, or whatever... It is kinda like buying a premium case of beer, drink it!!

That's too bad. I have done it before though.

Instead of buying this: I bought this: Damn cases looked almost identical (just got unlucky, all the other cases when I went back in were heavy dove). Oh well. Thanks for the replies - looking forward to shooting them tomorrow.

Put them for sale...a buddy of mine has an old Remy auto(i think) and his gun will only eject those rounds since they have a little more pop in them..I'm sure someone on here needs them. what are the specs on the ones you bought?

Check the amount of lead in each shell, 12GA should have at least 1 1/8 OZ of lead and 20GA needs 1 OZ to be considered a heavy load. If your long range shell carry these amount of lead they should be fine just a little harder on the wallet and shoulder at the end of the day.

Don't need to sell them, was just curious about performance. Sounds like I made a good mistake (wife probably wouldn't agree though, ha!)

Those are 1 1/4 oz shells. Your shoulder may be a little more sore than if you bought the others. They will do great.

You're way over thinking it... use what you bought. It ain't going to matter for doves.

Depending on the gun you use, they can pack a whallup. I have used them in everyhting from a 870, (hurt some) to a beretta semi auto (no pain but good reach on long range high flyin birds), to last year out of my Yildiz O/U, (will not make that mistake again, arm went numb after a quick shot to my hard left came up and I didn't have time to swing my body around, just threw the gun up and mounted it on my right biscep, pulled the trigger and entire arm went limp, started banging my arm on the tree to try and wake it up, I was in the middle of a fire fight with wave after wave of white wings). But back on topic, good shells for late in the season when birds are flyin high, just make sure you are shooting a semi-auto with them.

Haha...did the same thing, Shox27 (only picked up 1 box, though)! 20g 1oz. Went back today and got 4 x boxes of "Heavy Dove" and a couple Winchester AA #9, just for kicks. It is on!

Those high-brass shells are nice. If you know someone who reloads I'll bet they'll take the empty hulls.

Those are normally a few bucks more a box than the sureshots...how come you didnt notice at the checkout? Also almost every store I've seen they have a no returns/exchanges policy when it comes to ammo.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

i almost bought a case of that too. stopped the girl at the register and ran back for a case of heavy dove. im sure they work just as good, im just supersticious. you know like it was the shells fault or the guns fault that i missed.... one day i'll face the truth. but until then i can only hit dove with remington heavy dove.
