I had a Bushy 6.8.... My advice, if you're looking for the bigger punch get a AR10 (.308/7.62). Unless you don't mind ammo being hard to find and expensive. Ammo with the AR10 is easier to find and cheaper. If you don't mind those two factors and you plan on bulking up on ammo, then go for it.
I had a 5.56 / 6.8 / 7.62 in AR platform, and due to those two facts the 6.8 just sat in my safe. I just sold it to a buddy since he wanted an AR...
Don't mean to discourage you, but thought I'd give you my .02's

I love the 6.8! It is expensive but I shoot mine like I would a bolt gun anyways. If you want a hunting gun get one. If you want a shooter get a .223 or 22.

If you get one, I would not get a 20 inch or bull barrel. Powder burn is very efficient in a 6.8, I would go shortest and lightest.
Tek made some good points. If its a plinker and a hunter I would get a AR10 or .223, just a hunting weapon a 6.8 is great.

I had an 18" SS Bull Barrel upper on one of my AR's I absolutely hated how heavy it was, unless I was shooting from a bench I didn't even like to shoot it, so if you are using it for hunting/stalking do not get that 20" BB. I would get the 308 if you are just wanting something bigger than the 223, however I think the 223 is fine for most anything if you do your job.

I believe the 68 round was designed around the14.5" bbl so no need for a 20". 16" is excellent. 20" bull would be too heavy to carry around in the woods. I just ordered a 16" Recon SS Hunter complete upper for my Spikes lower for $550 shipped from ARP. This setup seems to be, by far, the best bang for the buck. Check it out at ar15performance.com. As far as ammo, it's about on par with what my 7mag was price wise. Expensive for a plinker but average for a good deer/hog caliber.

Haven't personally owned the 6.8 - mostly due the comments above (hunt with bolts and like to shoot the AR platform)...
With that said, FWIW, I do have a Stag in .223. Reliable every time and for the price you can't go wrong.

Yes there is a lot of 68 ammo cheaper than these. People are having good luck w/the Hornady 120gr SST's & they are about $21/ per 20.

Some Stag 6.8's have feeding problems due to the fact the Stag doesn't feel that the M4 feed ramps are necessary so they don't add them. I know of several that have either been sent back to Stag or had the M4 ramps done by somebody else to resolve the feeding issues. I bought my ARP 6.8 as a hunting rifle and really like it. Spikes makes a good 6.8 if you don't mind the 2 or 3 month wait to get one. Make sure you get one with the SPC II chamber and 1-11 twist.
